Sometimes it leaves you
with just a taste in your mouth
of something you almost remember
something you'll almost have
Other times it'll hit you hard,
and stop everything else
never leaving you alone
until it's done
But lately, more often than not
it's just out of reach
Fluttering away
leaving you frustrated
and confused

Day Seven: Book Titles (Prompt)
The Complete Gardener:
not just the name of a book,
but who we hope to become
in reading it
It doesn't talk so much
about the way the plants make you feel
moreso about layouts,
and successful plants
Though in reading it,
and stealing away its ideas
for your own yard
Do you find yourself
in sweat and dirt
and labor and blooms
not just the name of a book,
but who we hope to become
in reading it
It doesn't talk so much
about the way the plants make you feel
moreso about layouts,
and successful plants
Though in reading it,
and stealing away its ideas
for your own yard
Do you find yourself
in sweat and dirt
and labor and blooms
Day Six: Personal, No Prompt
I've been pushing myself recently
trying new things
It's good for me
It's helped me to forget
I've made new friends
Even kept in touch with old ones!
I work a lot
(That's not always good)
But I keep busy
And that is good
Learning how to cope
No-
Learning how to be me
It's a new adventure
It's scary
but exciting
Day Five: Personal, No Prompt
The sun shines down
in what seems like the first time in years
It warms the earth with its touch
And lifts the seeds from their sleep
Everything becomes green,
as if by magic
The birds begin to sing
They never left,
but now they yell to the sun
"it's over! it's over! Winter has gone home!"
And my heart soars

Day Four: Prompt (Teacup)
A song came
And rolled you away
Over a cup of tea
Honey
You're a lost cause
A sinking ship
that I don't want to save
All this time
All my love
We're gone,
blown away on our winds
You're lost and gone
Not mine, never mine
Sinking, in my cup of tea
Lost to me
Gone, gone
All my love
Day Three: Personal, No Prompt
Walk in, slam the door
Nothing's been done
too much to do
stress ads up
Like layers to the laundry pile
Not enough hours in the day
Nor money in the check
The floors need sweeping,
the rugs need beat
Never enough days in a week.

Day Two: Stars (Prompt)
There is magic
in looking up to the stars
Smokey campfires, cool nights
Far enough out there
that they're the only light
Dreams and wishes
swirl and float throughout
Calm settles in,
it's so big out there
but this little piece of it
It's good

Day One: (Prompt) Book Page
Find a book, turn to page 28. Pick 10 words that interest you. Use 7 in your poem.
Ordinarily you wouldn't have thought it
but again and again,
your thoughts linger
Growing worries,
the most troublesome rising to the surface
A black mark on your heart
Trust no longer immaculate
No balm,
no medicine
can soothe this ill
Words: immaculate, lingered, ordinary, marked, richest, growing, medicine, enabled, rising, existence.
Ordinarily you wouldn't have thought it

Growing worries,
the most troublesome rising to the surface
A black mark on your heart

Day Thirteen: Personal, No Prompt
And my whole world shook
With my fingers on his pulse
The importance of this moment
Hammered in to me
This was how
things should always be
Day Twelve: Personal, No Prompt
After a while
The line between
Yours and mine,
Well it gets blurred.
How much am I allowed
To care about yours?
What is mine?
How do we know?
Probably the only way to tell
Would be to cut ties,
Jump ship.
So I hope
I never find out.
Day Eleven: Personal Promt (House Hunting)
A house
Made up of rooms,
of work.
So full of stories
some not yet written
Potential is the currency
they trade in
And love
is what fills them.

Day Ten: Personal Prompt (Letter)
It wouldn't be right,
to leave you out of this.
You've been in and out
of all my writing for so long
It seems like forever.
Do you realize I miss you?
I do.
It's been a long time
hopefully not too much more.
It was always a different feel,
but a strong one.
Let's not leave it behind
Let's not forget
to leave you out of this.
You've been in and out
of all my writing for so long
It seems like forever.
Do you realize I miss you?
I do.
It's been a long time
hopefully not too much more.
It was always a different feel,
but a strong one.
Let's not leave it behind
Let's not forget
Day Nine: Personal, No Prompt
We slipped away
It wasn't dark
But no one noticed ether way
Hand in hand
There were commitments
But they were left
Tossed to the side
A dream, a nightmare
Who can tell
Day Eight: Personal Prompt (Patterns)
A soft kiss
And a longing you'll miss
An ache that goes to the bone
After you've been left alone
Day Seven: Personal, No Prompt
She had forgotten,
why she'd kept her distance.
Why she avoided falling into love. Because that led to needing someone.
And the pain that came with that
seared through her,
reminding her why
she hadn't wanted to love.
She couldn't afford to lose them now,
she had needs again.

Day Six: No Prompt
A song,
a story told at night
Made to keep the monsters at bay.
whispered over an over,
a talisman,
a comfort.
Familiarity,
Repetition.
It grounds you,
keeps you from slipping away.
a story told at night
Made to keep the monsters at bay.
whispered over an over,
a talisman,
a comfort.
Familiarity,
Repetition.
It grounds you,
keeps you from slipping away.
Day Five: (Personal Prompt) Hesitation
It's hard to eplain
the way I feel
I don't want out
But...
It's only you I want
to spend my days with-
my nights too
But...
It's complicated.
You're my one person
I'm in deep,
sunk
But...
the way I feel
I don't want out
But...
It's only you I want
to spend my days with-
my nights too
But...
It's complicated.
You're my one person
I'm in deep,
sunk
But...

Day Four: Hold On
Hold on to this day
Things have gone right
For the first time in ages
No disappointments,
no tears to shed
So hold on to it.
Keep it filed away
To look back on,
To remember the good
and let it drown out the bad.
Hold on to this day
It may not come again soon.
Day Three: Tenitive Prompt (Finish an Old Poem)
His body knows
Just how far she'd go
But his mind resists
Prays she won't give in
It is an unsure agreement,
tentative
They want it
But they don't.
An escape that shouldn't be taken
Along a well traveled route
He wants her,
She likes him
But he's not hers.
Day Two: (personal, no prompt)
Things are very different
I never saw myself here
So willing to commit
Ready to make the plunge
I'm sorting and packing
Folding away
Those little parts of myself
That never meant it to happen
It's a strange four letter word
That can move you so far
